Advance Security Hosts ASIS Breakfast Briefing
Advance Security organised the August ASIS regional breakfast briefing at Manchester’s Imperial War Museum North (IWMN).
The event attracted professionals from across the security industry including Paul Keeling, Chief Executive at Advance Security’s training partner organisation, Senate (www.senatetraining.co.uk). The former senior policeman led a lively discussion on the implications of The World Customs Organisation’s proposed Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) scheme.
During the session the Senate spokesperson highlighted the benefits of achieving AEO status for members of the supply chain seeking to speed goods through customs, while achieving significant cost savings – a subject that Senate continues to champion through its specially designed Edexcel accredited course, which won a Skills for Security (SfS) ‘Contribution to Skills Development and Training’ award in 2009.
“We’ve long worked with Senate to design and deliver bespoke training for our officers so it was a privilege to welcome Paul and indeed everyone that took part in the morning’s thought provoking discussions,” said Advance Security’s managing director Richard Bailey.
“By hosting the meeting at IWMN it was also a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the benefits of harnessing solid manned guarding provision in tandem with technologies. The Advance officers servicing the Museum were awarded Best Team by the BSIA earlier this year and with recent investment in a new CCTV control room we’re proud to present this to security’s great and good as an ideal working model. The fact that IWMN has won ‘Best Large Visitor Attraction’ at the North West Tourism Awards two-years running is also testament to the Museum’s appeal as an impressive venue for any industry event . A big thank you to all involved for making the meeting such a resounding success.”
Participants included Graham Bassett, Vice Chair – Operations at ASIS Chapter 208; SME adviser and Director at ICON Business Solutions, Heather Hobden – who highlighted the potential financial repercussions of inadequate security; and briefing organiser, Tim Hodges CPP PSP of Access Ability UK.
