Advance Security Shortlisted for IFSEC Awards

Advance Security’s collaboration with Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Policing Partnership of the Year’ at the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2010.

The category celebrates the very best working partnerships between private sector guarding companies, police forces, local authorities and crime-fighting partners in the community, and judges are looking for evidence of how a team-based ethic has been fostered to combat crime and anti-social behaviour.

Advance officers have worked closely with West Yorkshire Police, Calderdale MBC and the Communications Facility’s CCTV Manager to monitor the Borough’s public space and council cameras since 2008. In that time, however, the demands on the team have significantly increased with surveillance now covering a total 72 cameras (48 across public spaces and 24 council cameras) from a starting point of 47 cameras. Despite this additional pressure, however, the team has risen to the challenge and an increasing number of successful arrests and assists are testament to their continuing commitment.

“I’m exceptionally proud of the four officers that work with Peter F Woodhouse QPM, the CCTV Manager, and emergency services to cut crime across the Borough,” said Advance Security’s Regional Operations Manager North, Harry Robinson.

“The team is a great asset to Advance and our success in being shortlisted for the upcoming IFSEC awards is in recognition of their vigilance in diffusing a whole raft of public safety situations. From identifying additional areas that could benefit from CCTV surveillance through to dissuading youths from playing on frozen ice, the team has worked tirelessly to protect the Calderdale community to the best of its ability.”

Further to Harry’s comments, a Senior Police Officer has extended the force’s gratitude to the team responsible for monitoring town centre, public space and council CCTV cameras for the professional manner in which it works with the CCTV Manager and emergency services to make Calderdale a safer place to live, work and visit.

Detective Chief Inspector, Paul Fountain’s testimonial perhaps best sums up the strong alliance between the Communications Facility and The Force: “Thank you very much for the professional manner whilst running the new CCTV system. Congratulations on your results and on behalf of Calderdale Police, thank you.”

The Advance Security team is one of four contenders for the ‘Best Policing Partnership’ category in this year’s awards programme. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on Monday 10th May at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
