Community
Advance Security has implemented a number of policies and practices to help benefit the wider community.
Sponsored Charity
As part of this commitment, we have formed a relationship with the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders (AMEND) a patient support group and UK registered charity, set up to support those affected by Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders - rare inherited disorders that can cause more than one gland of the body’s endocrine system to develop growths, resulting in a variety of different symptoms.
AMEND aims to provide support to patients of MEN, their families and friends, as well as offering information about MEN and other relevant issues relating to genetic disorders, promoting a wider knowledge of the condition among the medical profession to assist in early and accurate diagnosis, and assisting in future MEN research. AMEND also has a number of specially trained ‘telephone buddies’ who are themselves patients and carers affected by the condition.
Advance donates all monies raised from the recycling of paper, mobile phones, PDA’s and print cartridges to AMEND and our employees and clients are encouraged to take part in fund-raising projects in support of AMEND, allowing us to make a significant contribution towards the charity’s progression while creating a genuine sense of pride and involvement across our organisation.
Community Recruitment
It is our policy to recruit from the immediate local area wherever possible and as such we have formed partnerships with key local business groups, including Jobcentre Plus in order to support this policy and assist potential recruits to move into sustained employment.
Suppliers
We have developed and introduced an open procurement system to allow local suppliers the opportunity to pitch for our business alongside more established national providers. In addition all suppliers are assessed for their own commitment to CSR; in particular their processes for improvement and willingness to transfer best practice.
Employee Engagement
At Advance we actively encourage our workforce to join in with our corporate efforts to reduce their individual carbon footprint outside of the workplace. We have created a detailed assessment programme for all staff, with a dedicated internal webpage advising on actions that can be taken at home and work to minimise their personal environmental impact. In addition employees are actively encouraged to adopt environmentally friendly working practices, and are further engaged via our CSR suggestion scheme. The scheme awards employees with ‘green vouchers’ for providing the most effective suggestions for company-wide improvement and as such we feel that we are looking towards the wider community as well as focusing on what we can achieve as a business.
