Advance Course of Physical Intervention
National security provider, Advance Security, has responded to its shopping centre clients’ strict insurance obligations with the successful implementation of a new course in hold and restraint procedures for the private sector.
Developed with its partner, Senate Training, the two day course entitled Physical Intervention in the Security Environment, teaches security personnel over 30 different hold and restraint techniques, for specific use in shopping centres. The course is currently offered to all Advance Security shopping centre clients and is the first course of this manner to be offered at such a high level, within the private sector. All of the techniques employed are recognised as standard procedure by the police and are taught by accredited ex-police personnel.
Until now physical intervention in private sector security has been very rare due to restrictions with insurance, but the course has addressed this problem as Barry Dawson, managing director of Advance Security, explains, “Before this course if any physical intervention was required security companies would not have been insured. With this course we have more than satisfied the stringent criteria needed to receive insurance - although it will always be a last resort, our officers are now adequately trained, accredited and covered to deal with any physical confrontation.
