Advance Officer Praised for Quick Thinking
Advance Security, responsible for the provision of security services at the Mill Gate Shopping Centre, Bury was praised recently when CCTV operatives at the Centre caught a man contravening his ASBO. Their quick thinking led to the offender receiving a three month prison sentence. Whilst carrying out control room duties at the Mill Gate Centre, a security officer for Advance spotted a man drinking a bottle of vodka in a telephone kiosk in the town centre. Suspicious of the man, the officer quickly visited www.burysafe.org , which lists people in the area with ASBOs including their terms, exclusion areas and photos. This confirmed the man was in breach of his ASBO, by drinking in public. With this information the officer contacted the police and the man was arrested and subsequently sentenced to three months in jail. Advance Security’s site supervisor for the Mill Gate Centre, commented, “It’s very satisfying when members of your team take ownership of a situation and show initiative. Due to the officer’s quick thinking an offender is now safely in jail. This type of proactive behaviour is key to Advance Security’s approach.”
