Advance Security Tackles the Terrorism Agenda

Leading security firm Advance Security has teamed up with Paul Keeling of Senate Training to offer the UK’s first BTEC qualification in Understanding Counter Terrorism. The nationally accredited programme, developed by Paul Keeling, will be awarded by examining body Edexcel and has been specifically developed to meet the concerns of organisations operating in the UK, which have regular contact with the general public.

It is the only training programme to address the threats posed by fundamentalist organisations and places a strong emphasis on hostile reconnaissance to give trainees a thorough understanding of the nature of the threat and best practice methodology to prevent an attack.

“With the ever-present threat of terrorism within the UK, Paul Keeling has been quick to recognise that the security industry demands a much higher specification of skills and capabilities in this area. The BTEC qualification in counter terrorism has been designed to addresses this skills gap and, ultimately, make UK business more secure against this threat. Our long standing partnership with Senate allows us to offer the BTEC course to all of our UK clients and we are very pleased to add it to our portfolio of training opportunities.” explains Barry Dawson, managing director of Advance Security.

As a result of implementing the cutting edge course, Paul Keeling has been presented with a major national award by the National Open College Network (NOCN) for providing the most innovative training aid/product in the UK.

Paul is delighted with the honour, “It’s unfortunate that the current security climate requires this additional resource. However, we are very pleased that the importance of this training course has been recognised and are confident that Advance Security’s clients will find it a great benefit to their day to day operations.” The course is currently only available to all UK companies, via Senate Training
